I woke up to the sound of fire engines wailing outside this morning--pretty startling! I called the police to see if there was a fire on my street, as our buildings are all joined so a fire at the end of the street could mean not great things for the whole block. I was told that the power was out. I'm still unclear about why that required wailing sirens, but alright :)
I'm re-reading a good book right now, The Solace of Leaving Early by Haven Kimmel. There's a quote that I just think is beautiful near the beginning of the book:
She knew the planet tilts on its axis
to nearly the same degree that a woman's womb is tilted outward, that we are walking into and out of the
light, every day, and a thousand million times, more than we can
every count or claim to recognize, all the elements converge toward
what can only be called a miracle, so often it happens that it must
be the very nature of the world...
And while we're at the quotes thing (I love quotes, I have to say), a friend sent me this one:
Sincere forgiveness isn't colored with
expectations that the other person apologize or change. Don't worry
whether or not they finally understand you. Love them and release
them. Life feeds back truth to people in its own way and time.
It's quoted as said by Sara Paddison, though I have no idea who that is. It's pretty appropriate to my life right this second, so it resonates...
I hope you have a relaxing Saturday!
